Before you even think about PR and marketing to advertise your business, ask yourself “Is my product ready to be released for public use?” There’s no point in attempting to promote your product or service if the answer is no. If you create a demand for your product and it isn’t readily available, your plan will disintegrate. And your potential customers may go and visit your competitors in the meantime.

What makes your product different from your competitors? What does it offer the customer? The service you are offering or the product you are selling should have all that of a regular product with additional benefits to those of the competition. That is what your customer base wants. For example if you are selling advertising spaces for an internet search engine, what can you offer which makes your potential customer want to purchase your advertising space rather than a competitors? Can you get them onto the front page of a major search engine such as Google? Can you offer competitive rates? Do you provide any other services? If you can answer positively to the above questions, you can be sure you are offering your customers what they want.

You need to offer your customers a certain level of quality and service. Consider the things that you want your company to represent to your customers. What will get your customers attention? What will they respond to? If you already have something that you think your customers needs, then the next step is to make them aware that they need it and that you can provide it. In terms of marketing, make sure that you go where your customer base does. Everyone uses internet search engines; therefore internet advertising would be a good marketing approach. You would need to choose keywords which get you the most visits to your site. Then you would need to choose the keywords which provide you with the most sales from your site. These keywords are usually relatively the same, but will differ slightly so as to separate website views from actual sales.
